 Thanks for the heads up on this - I've committed another fix for the
 problem. This snag with using the attached additional endian test was that
 it wouldn't correctly identify a remote display with a different
 endianess, also the BYTE_ORDER macro was functioning ok so it was just a
 question of using that on the MAC_OSX variant - as the X11 based
 ImageByteOrder() call only seems to fail on MAC_OSX_TK.
