 A number of requests have been made to enhance the range of sampling rates
 available from the OSX audio driver (currently only able to provide 8KHz
 audio). There have been some partial attempts but nothing stable. So far
 there was an attempt from the Arctic Region Computing centre, and an other
 is possibly in the works from USA/Edinburgh...?
