I must be seriously misinterpreting what I'm reading from some people 
then.

This is fine though, as long what you're saying is what the majority 
fagrees on. I just got very upset at IETF75 when people were talking about 
core congestion like a law of nature and that was the most important 
problem to be handled going forward, because I don't agree with that 
notion at all.
