 Also there are some issues with the current grabber that can hopefully be
 solved in the transition. There seems to be a bug that is currently worked
 around (in source:vic/branches/mpeg4/tcl/ui-ctrlmenu.tcl close_device {})
 - which causes VIC to crash with the message "pure virtual method called".

 This workaround had to be removed as it was causing issues
 (https://frostie.cs.ucl.ac.uk/nets/mmedia/changeset/4302).

   Also the grabber seems picky about when the port and capture type are
 set - in init_grabber() also in source:vic/branches/mpeg4/tcl/ui-
 ctrlmenu.tcl

 It's just that "DV Video", "IIDC FireWire Video" and "USB Video Class
 Video" aren't real capture devices, the ports are the real capture
 devices. So on MacOS X the port needs to be set much earlier if you want
 to do anything with a capture device that falls into one of these 3
 categories. (The setting of the capture type earlier also was just a
 sideffect of setting the port earlier)
